Raw Foods in the Harvest Months
by Veena Lucas   Have you considered incorperating more raw food into your diet?

It is fall, and winter is on its way. We are fortunate to live in beautiful California where there are local farmers markets with fresh produce all the time. For those of us who prefer organic produce we are fortunate to have several natural health-foods stores in our area in addition to the farmers market. Winter foods like soups and stews, baked dishes and breads are very heart warming and usally the first food we choose. For those of us looking to add more raw foods to our diets and who still want to enjoy the harvest meals here are some very simple ways.
Pack sliced fruit to snack on in the mid morning or before lunch and sliced vegetables for after lunch. Consider carrying nuts & seeds and dried fruit with you for an energy boost; great for commuting or long trips.
Create simple starters out of raw ingredients while dinner is on its way. Such as cranberry salsa (fresh cranberries, onion, celantro, and sea salt blended) or Garden Salsa (with tomato, zuchini, bell pepers, herbs, onion and garlic) serve with chips or toasted bread. Fresh letuce wraps (sliced vegies, herbs, wraped in cabage or lettuce and served with a dressing of lemon, garlic, herbs, pepper and olive oil ).

Oils are essential to improving the quality of your life.
by Veena Lucas   The incredible beneifts of nutritional, massage & essential oils.
Nutritional oils: Such as Fish Oil, Flax seed oil, walnut oil, coconut oil, and canola oils are rich in essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids support you digestive system, effecting the health of your body in every way. The most visable effect oils have on your health is in the beauty, elasticity and overall healthly glow of your skin. When shopping for oils, look for organic or pesticide free. Check out these article links on EFA's.

Massage oils are food for the skin; they hydrate and tone the skin and assit in drawing toxins out of your body. Body Continuum is proud to use organic, wildcrafted and non-GMO gel, oils, creams, lotions and essential oils that nourish the skin as you unwind. Essential oils are distilled from plants and are pure undiluted plant essences. They carry a higher frequency then some foods. A few drops can postively effect your mood, promote healing and ease pain or discomfort. To learn more about how oils can benefit you, check out these websites.

The Importance of Massage
by Veena Lucas   Therapeutic Touch, Positive Touch, Healing Touch; what ever you want to call it, it is all self healing.
Massage is an important part of life. Think about how often you massage an area of your body, even if it is only for a second. Was it more then you thought at first? Of course it is. We massage ourselves after we bump in to something, everytime we give and receive a hug, every time we rub our neck or shoulders and everytime we wash our hands. We massage ourselves and others constantly but most often unconsciously. The work I do reminds me how important touch is, how great it is to give and how wonderful it is to recieve. Please take time to notice when and how often you take care to massage yourself, your friends, pets and loved ones. This season reach out to those you nomally wouldn't reach out to and share some good energy.

Taking the time for a massage is very important for your health and the health of those around you. Here are some Benifits of Massage

  1. More peaceful sleep
  2. Helps to bring about balance in the body where there may be imbalances
  3. Relieves stress
  4. Reduces muscle discomfort
  5. Regulates blood pressure
  6. Increases circulation
  7. Helps to harness and increase your positive energy.

Self Massage
by Veena Lucas   5 minute massages for morning noon and night.
Mini massages are a very refeshing way to start, get through and end your day. To enhace this breif time you have, add an essential oil, hydrosol spritz or massage oil blend.
  • For the AM, start with a face, neck, head and scalp massage.
  • Take a 5 minute break in the middle of your day to stretch, take a deep breath and rub your hands, elbows, shoulders and knees.
  • There is no better way to end the day then with a foot rub. Rotate those ankles and relax and rub your calfs, ankles feet and toes.

If you find that you need a little more support durring stressful times but don't have much time; consider making an appointment for a short and sweet theraputic escape. I offer the following services.

  • Exhale Massage: Only $15 for a 20 minute cloths on massage; just enough time to relax and unwind.
  • Rejuvenating Hand & Foot Care: Only $15 for a herbal salt rub, aromatherapy soak and massage for both your hands and feet. aprox. 20 minutes.

Increase the Benefits of Your Massage.
by Veena Lucas   Complematary therapies to massage therapy.
There are many things that you can do to increase the benefits of your massage. Here are just a few.
  • Soaking
Soaking in the tub with bath salts for 20 minutes helps to draw toxins out of the body through the skin (your body's largest organ). Releasing these toxins reduces muscle soreness and emotional fatigue. We recommend you soak often and especially after a massage.
  • Yoga
Yoga lengthens, opens, strengthens and brings awareness to the body. Yoga is, in a way, an active massage. Yoga before massage will help you relax deeper into your massage; will keep you feeling the benefits of massage longer, and will improve your yoga practice by asisiting with the circulation & tone of your muscles. Yoga after a masage can be relaxing and self adjusting. You can also use yoga as an opportunity to better communicate with your therapist what you have learned about your body and the areas you feel need balancing.
  • Breathing
Breathing deep full relaxing breaths increases the circulation of oxygen through your body. You can even breath into an area that needs attention just by placing your hand over the area and taking a deep focused breath; sending the oxygen to the area that is soar, tight or achey.

Also consider therapies with fluid movement such as martial arts, dance, swimming and movement therapy.
